Innovative Mobile Fire and
Flood Protection in Australia
Due to the ongoing and ever-increasing incidence of bush and forest fires and catastrophic flooding across our planet, an opportunity to provide a mobile, modular, fire and flood protection system has arisen.
The 2019/2020 bushfire season has been amongst the worst in record totalling approximately 3200 individual fires across every state in the Federation. Nearly 50 Million acres of burned area so far this season.
These simple if stark facts prompted and encouraged the invention, patenting, and trademarking of the FirePicket as a mobile and simply deployable system of fire protection barriers against radiant heat and entrained embers, as typically encountered in bush/forest fires globally.
The Importance Of FirePicket
Our mobile modules are typically 2metres high. The Fire Picket barrier may be built higher where the 3 metre barrier is stipulated which would protect second storey buildings or taller industrial facilities. The barriers are angled to deflect heat further upwards, resulting in a less turbulent, laminar flow of hot air passing above, forcing the heat and embers higher into the air and away from the area being protected.
How FirePicket Works
GPS Tracking For Added Security
All barriers carry unique traceable identifiers (RFIDs) and may be located using GPS coordinates where trackers are fitted to individual systems. This will not only prevent theft but will also allow emergency services to know where FirePicket barriers are located. This, in turn, improves fire-fighting coordination and capability.
Where Firepicket barriers carry GPS trackers, if signals are lost, this may indicate their destruction and show fire progress in areas that may not need human intervention to identify fire track and progress.
